lettuce keeper September 5, 2010 CB from Texas I find that this product does help my lettuce stay better longer. I mainly use it for green leaf lettuce and the container is a great size for that! I bought one for my daughter also and she loves it.
Happy lettuce eater September 1, 2010 Gary S. Lynde (Northern NY) After opening the box to the new lettuce keeper I bought, my first thought was, "I paid that much money for a plastic tub with a rubber tray and rubber lid?" 6 months later I'm back to this page to buy my second lettuce keeper. I'm constantly amazed how well the lettuce and kale and swiss chard, etc. keeps. It's probably paid for itself several times over in the thrown out lettuce I've saved.

Absolutely works. I was shocked. August 28, 2010 Robert Snodgrass (Here.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I try to eat salads every day. I routinely buy romaine lettuce and then saw it go bad within a week. I tried other solutions, including the pre-bagged stuff, which promise to stay fresh and have the added benefit of being pre-mixed, cut, and washed. These went bad even more quickly and usually had wilted, brown lettuce in them, as well as an abundance of the white stalk/hearts that generally have no taste. I tried keeping lettuce in the crisper, in different containers, I washed it and then put it away, I cut it up and put it away, and every other permutation I could think of.
Seeing the high reviews for this, I was still skeptical.
But it absolutely works.
I took a new romaine lettuce, cut it up (removing the white parts), washed it, dried it in a salad spinner (Oxo brand, the only good one out there), placed it in this thing, added water to the reservoir, and set the filter to open. Over a week later, the lettuce was still crisp, smelled fresh, beautifully green, and not slimy at all. I went from having lettuce going bad within a few days to it being completely fresh over a week later.
I haven't tested the maximum amount of days it could last, but I'm sure the product works, and works very well. Others have complained about the lid, and yes - sometimes it is hard to clip on, and even annoying to get removed - it could be better designed. But this is a minor issue.
Five out of five. I'm getting a second one to keep vegetables in. Absolutely impressed with how well it works.
Awesome lettuce keeper! August 26, 2010 Bryan W. Haddock (Chattanooga, TN USA) I purchased this for my mother who is always complaining about her lettuce turning brown and wilting. She has tried all kinds of things to keep her lettuce crisp and fresh; from the green bags to putting her rinsed and chopped lettuce in a pillow case and putting it on the spin cycle in the washing machine to spin out the excess water in an attempt to keep her lettuce crisp. Needless to say she likes her salads. Since receiving this product, my mom has had nothing but positive comments about this product. My parents went out of town for a week and my mom forgot there was lettuce in the fridge. When they got back, she opened the fridge to find that the head of lettuce she had left was still crisp and fresh tasting. Very impressive!
Suprassed my expectations August 25, 2010 Louie7 (Atlanta, GA) I purchased this hoping to find a way to keep my heads of lettuce longer and reduce throwing away half a head each time I bought one. This product really worked. I bought a head of lettuce about two weeks ago and it is still crisp and fresh. There are a few (very few) brown spots at the remains of the core easily removed. I have just enough for one more salad or sandwhich that will be gone this week. Not sure of exact dates but this crisper has kept my lettuce fresh over two weeks! Love it! I know a few people that will be getting this as a Christmas gift this year.
